Server-Side Programming

Server-side programming is achieved by associating scripts with events. Ebase forms have an event model (see Ebase events) that support a number of different events e.g. click on a button. Scripts can be programmed in a choice of languages that includes:

• API based languages: these are programming languages that access form data and invoke form services via the Ebase API. Currently the only language available is Javascript. Additional programming languages will be added in future releases.

• FPL stands for Forms Processing Language and is the Ebase-specific language originally developed to provide an easy-to-use language to operate with forms. Click here for the FPL language syntax.

In general terms, the API based languages offer more power and flexibility, FPL is more suited for use by people who would not immediately identify themselves as developers.

The default language can be set as a designer preference.
